Ephesians 4:1-10
One Lord, one faith, one baptism
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) (Ephesians 4:1-10)
Here, 『unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. This is the word of the psalm, and by quoting it, God gave a gift. Gifts are the words of verses 8-9. Jesus Christ showed that he was king from the front of the cross. He declared that he was king even if he went to hell. Jesus Christ died on the cross and then went down to hell, resurrected and ascended in three days. Ascension is the same as entering Canaan and winning.
In Ephesians 1:3, 『Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 』. In Chapter 1:10, 『Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 』. Power is revealed when united in Christ. God's power is in Chapter 1:20-21, 『Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:'Ascension represents power.
The reason Jesus ascended is related to life as a church. Jesus sat on the right hand of the post and was on all things. Christ is on all things. In Ephesians 4:6, 『One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 』. The church is in all things. The church is in the real world of time and space, in all things. The Lord, seated at the right hand of the throne of God, is at the head of the church above all things. In Chapter 1 verses 22-23, 『And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. 』
The Lord above all things ascends to become the head of the church, and the church is in all things. In Hebrews 1:3, 『Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high』. Paul's epistles speak to the church in all things, but the Hebrews speaks of Christ on all things ascended. In Hebrews 1:13, 『But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 』. This means that the Father did not speak to the angels, but spoke directly to Christ. God directly said, "I will make your footsteps your enemies." So until then, "Sit on my right hand side".
In Hebrews 2:8, 『Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. 』. This is consistent with Psalm 8:5-6. God has made all things subject, but we who are still in all things have not seen it. Here is the church. How is the "head of the church" on all things connected to the church in all things? The Bible tells us that the saint must be his army to be united with "Christ the Ascended, Christ the Head of the Church." You must be the winner. Who should you fight to make all things subject? It is Satan. The regenerated church has power.
The expression of authority is evident in Matthew 18:15-17.『 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. 』
In Matthew 7:22-23, 『Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 』. The church is the body of the Lord. The power of the Church comes from the unity of the saints. Power appears when two or three are gathered. In the Old Testament, grains are tied to altars and shaken and dedicated to altars. The only thing that falls is the beast's prey. So, the columns must be tied together. How should it be tied?
In Christ the saints are bound by the filling of the Holy Spirit. In Leviticus 23:10-11『 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.』
