Ephesians 4: 22-24

(Ephesians 4: 22-24)

『That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.』

Temptation is to deceive. In humans, old and new cannot exist at the same time. If we take off the old man, God will clothe the new man.

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind”There is a difference between niv and kjv.『in the attitude of your minds』(niv)『in the spirit of your mind』(kjv), It must be called the spirit, not the attitude of the heart. This is "born again".

『Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)』(Ephesians 5: 6-9)

The children of darkness are old, and the children of light are new. There is no middle. It is not by man's effort that the old man becomes a new man, but the new man is born again only when the old man dies. The darkness does not turn into light, but darkness must disappear. Today, most church people think in the middle. They are not taking off the clothes of the old man, but are trying to convert to the new man through every effort.

The Old Testament is a model of the New Testament. In the past, the Hebrews fled Egypt, crossing the Red Sea where humans could not cross. And a wilderness appeared. They had to go through the wilderness, cross the river (Jordan) and enter Canaan. To enter Canaan is to enter into Christ. God promised the Hebrews. "If you enter Canaan, I will give you land." But no one believed in God's promise except two (Joshua, Caleb). At that time, the population was about 2 million. So God allowed no one to enter Canaan except children under the age of 19. They died in the wilderness, and only new men born in the wilderness entered Canaan. So the old man must die. The old man means a carnal man who does not believe in God's promises.

 

To enter Canaan is to enter into Christ. To escape Egypt and cross the Red Sea comes from the world (the greed of riches). Jesus explained this through the parable of the four fields. A roadside field (the devil takes the word of God), a stone field (tested by the word, discarding the word), and a thorny field (the seed of the word cannot grow).

Without repentance, speaking in salvation by believing in Jesus belongs to three types of fields. The representative was Jesus' disciple Peter. He experienced all kinds of miracles, had wonderful spiritual experiences, but abandoned Jesus on the cross. He denied Jesus three times. If we do not repent, everyone can be like this. Repentance is to deny yourself. Those who fear the world will not try to die with Jesus. The Bible is the gospel to those who know it.

The gospel is the news that humans are in wickedness. The gospel tells us that "even though human beings are happy and successful, there is no point before death." The gospel tells us that the one without Jesus is of no use. God's name is Jesus. Thus, those who enter into Jesus Christ become God's people. Those who enter into Jesus Christ believe in Jesus' name. He is a savior. You cannot enter into Jesus Christ unless you die on the cross with Jesus. So deny yourself. Those who realize that they are to die for God die with Jesus. If he had lived in Noah's day, he would have been drowned.

Today, most church people hope for Jesus without thinking of their sins. To say, "Without repentance, just believing in Jesus is saved" is a false gospel. If we do not repent, we will be like Peter, who denied Jesus three times. In Luke (22:31). :『 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may

Through the twelve, what the Bible shows us is that all human beings are evil. No one in darkness can follow Jesus on the cross. Even if you have a mysterious experience and are blessed by the word of God, you will not be saved unless you are born again. To be born again, the old man of greed must die with Jesus on the cross. You must die with Jesus, and God approves.

『Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.』(Romans 6: 6-7)

Those who repent are not afraid of death but of God. If you deny yourself, you are born again with water and the Holy Spirit, which represents the death of Noah's day, and the Holy Spirit is the light of God, who is born again by the power of God. When you repent, you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit from God. But if you are born again, you can see the fruit of your repentance. The fruit of repentance is my cross.

Ephesians 2: 1-3
